We’re looking for two new team members at Reddy Lane Market Garden

As we put our new organically certified market garden in Cheshire into full veg production, we need help with the stall at Levenshulme Market and doing the veg boxes.

We are looking to recruit two casual staff who would work either a Saturday on the stall at Levenshulme Market (6-9 hours), or a Sunday helping with veg box harvesting, packing and delivery (5-8 hours). There might be occasional help required on Friday too. We would like staff to be trained and confident enough to do either the market or the veg boxes. Though once trained, we can be flexible about whether you work Saturday or Sundays. Sometimes you might be required to move between the market garden (WA14 3RB), Levenshulme Market (M19 3AB) and Romiley (SK6 4HH). We are closed mid-December- 1st March, so there would be no work available during these months.

-Minimum wage for hours worked (£8.21 for over 25 years)
-Access to any leftover organic veg

Criteria for applicants:
-Friendly and able to interact with the public- Essential
-Able to add up on the market stall using pen and paper quickly and accurately- Essential
-Fit enough to stand on market stall for 6-7 hours- Essential
-Able to lift 25kg sacks from van to trolley, and regularly lift and move around 12-15kg sacks of veg- Essential
-Happy to work either Saturday or Sunday – Essential
-Interest in food, growing and using – Essential
Able to drive and confidence driving van for deliveries- Essential
Enthusiasm and ability to learn– Essential
-Access to own vehicle- Desirable
-Experience in retail- Desirable
Knowledge about growing and using food– Desirable

We are starting our community growing sessions in March at Reddy Lane Market Garden in Cheshire. Tasks include: sowing seeds, watering, potting on, harvesting and maintenance and building the new site. We have funding to cover lunches, travel costs, waterproof clothing and equipment.
